Crofton, Maryland
Crofton is a suburb of Baltimore, an exciting place to live, highlighted as one of Maryland’s best places to live in the state. With a suburban feel, the area is not overcrowded and provides a multitude of opportunities for families to develop and grow. With a plethora of parks, restaurants and shopping areas, there is a very multicultural feel to the area with people of all ages choosing to settle in the area.
In 1963, the area was founded by the Crawford Corporation, with the idea to create a brand new community. Crofton soon flourished, with the community golf course being a staple to the area, and in 1964, it was made official to the government. Named after a small township in Cumberland County, England, the ideology behind the name proved beneficial to the town, bringing Crofton to fruition as a “pleasant place to live.” It was once an exclusive gated community, but in recent years the area has become a diverse and enjoyable place to live, which is open to all. In 2007, Money Magazine named Crofton as one of the “100 Best Places to Live” in the USA. A brilliant eastern location, it is well connected to many cities and boasts many incredibly profitable amenities. Washington DC is situated 24 miles west of Crofton.
The area boasts many highly rated schools and provides many activities for younger people including go-karting, skate zone, Terrapin adventures, bowling and Crofton park which prove popular with kids. The Katcef Archeological Site is also a favorite for history lovers, with the original native campsites from the Paleo-Indian Clovis period are still to this day on show to visitors.
Crofton is around twenty six miles south of Baltimore and can be reached via the I-97 N.
